Duma (Hebron)

Duma is an attractive, spacious village on the fringe of al Dahriya, with sweeping fields of olive trees spreading out in all directions. Its centre is effectively that of al Dahriya, a large, bustling town with a marketplace and a beautifully renovated Old City. Duma itself does still have facilities including a health centre and a pharmacy however, as well as a range of small shops. The village is well-known for its olive press, which is the main press for the surrounding area, and hence a huge part of the village’s economy. The village is 21km southwest of Hebron, and just 2km outside the centre of al Dahriya. There is another village named Duma in Ramallah governorate, in the central West Bank.

What To Do

The exquisitely renovated Old City of al Dahriya is one of the true hidden gems of Palestine, and a hit tourist attraction waiting to take off. There is much to explore in the way of old buildings, as well as rooftops to navigate, incredible views to drink in and even a coffee shop and cafe to relax in afterwards. Otherwise, Hebron, 21km away, is a bustling city with an atmospheric Old City, market and plenty of shops and restaurants.

Where To Eat

There is a cafe and coffee shop in the renovated Old City of al-Dayriya, as well as numerous small restaurants serving up traditional Palestinian fare (Shawarma, falafel, hummus etc). For a proper meal out, Hebron, 21km away, has a neighbourhood called Ras al Jora with plenty of restaurants.
