Jacob’s Well

The well is thought to be one of the most genuine sites in the Holy Land, due to the fact it is impossible to move the location of a 40 metres deep well. This is the biblical spot where Christians believe a Samaritan woman offered Jesus a drink of water, after which he revealed to her that he was the Messiah (John 4:13-14).

It is located at the foot of the stairs in the church of St Photina the Samaritan, which was built by the Greek Orthodox Church in the 1860s. The immaculate church can be visited between 10am-12 and 2pm-4pm.

The well is extremely close to the archeological site of Tell Balata.
