An Nabi Elyas

An Nabi Elyas (or An Nabi Ilyas) is a small but lively village on the road from Nablus to Qalqilya. Despite its small size, the village is an industrial and commercial hub for the surrounding area, and has a busy high street. It is just 2km from the city of Qalqilya, one of the biggest in the West Bank.

More than a quarter of the population of An Nabi Elyas are originally refugees.

Population: 1,214 (2006)

What To Do

An Nabi Elyas’ busy centre has an abundance of shops and facilities that bely this village’s small size. Grocery stores, a pharmacy, a dentists and furniture warehouses can be found on the main road. It is becoming increasingly popular as a shopping destination for those in the surrounding villages.

Where To Eat

While snacks and drinks can be purchased at shops in the village, the best bet for a meal out is the city of Qalqilya, 2km to the west.

Where To Stay

Qalqilya, 2km to the west, has hotels but the best variety is on offer in either Nablus or Ramallah.
