Tubas City

Tubas is an important economic and administrative city in the northeastern West Bank, located just 3km west of the Jordan river. It is the capital of Tubas governorate, providing facilities as well as work for residents of the surrounding towns and villages. Tubas is governed by a council of 15 members, with Jamal Abu Mohsin as the mayor since he was elected in 2005. The city is identified as the ancient town of Thebez. It has been under the control of the Palestinian National Authority since it was transferred to them from Israel in 1995.
