Banksy

Legendary British graffiti artist Banksy travelled to Bethlehem in 2005 and then again in 2007 to express his views on the conflict through his art. The resulting images have become iconic worldwide. Some have since been covered up, but many can still be visited either on foot, by taxi or on a tour. The taxi drivers in Bethlehem will offer tours of the various artworks, ending at the wall and the Banksy shop for around 50 shekels per car.

The flower thrower daubed on the side of a petrol station, the armoured dove and the girl frisking a soldier can all be visited. The tours typically end at the separation wall, which has become a powerful symbol of the Israel/Palestine conflict. There is a Banksy shop here selling postcards, posters and more featuring the Banksy works.

Incredibly moving stories from those affected by the conflict are written in English on posters hanging on the wall, alongside evocative graffiti. At the Banksy shop, there is also the opportunity to add your own graffiti to the wall.
